Lanny Liebeskind, PhD, holds the distinguished positions of Sr. Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. His leadership extends to chairing the Topikos Scientific Advisory Board, where he advises on intellectual property, patents, and the research and development of platform drugs.

As Emory University’s liaison to the Georgia Research Alliance, Liebeskind’s expertise in synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry shines. His research focuses on discovering new reactions and leveraging transition metal chemistry to solve complex problems in organic synthesis.

His editorial contributions include serving over two decades as associate editor for the Journal of Organometallics, the Encyclopedia of Reagents for Organic Synthesis, and Advances in Metal-Organic Chemistry. Liebeskind’s excellence in the field is recognized through numerous awards, such as the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship and the 2006 Cope Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society. In 2015, he was elected a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, and in 2020, a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

Liebeskind has also been a valued consultant to the pharmaceutical industry, with significant roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer (Monsanto), and Johnson & Johnson, demonstrating his profound impact on both academic and industrial chemistry.
