Brent R. Bellows, PhD, Esq., is a distinguished partner at Knowles Intellectual Property Strategies, LLC (KIPS), where he provides specialized patent services to Topikos. His expertise lies in pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent strategy, encompassing domestic and international patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio management, and due diligence.

Bellows excels in the strategic development and strengthening of patent portfolios, focusing on assets with clinical value and considering competitor challenges. His clientele ranges from emerging startups to large global corporations. His achievements include recognition as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, being listed among Georgia’s “Legal Elite” in Intellectual Property Law by Georgia Trend Magazine, and featuring in Intellectual Asset Management Magazine’s “Intellectual Property Strategy 300” from 2015-2019.

He earned his Ph.D. in human genetics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, focusing his thesis on tumor antigen identification and covering disciplines such as molecular biology and immunology. Post-graduation, Bellows attended the University of Virginia Law School, then joined King & Spalding’s Intellectual Property group in Atlanta. His career also includes serving as a law clerk for Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. in the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. In 2010, Bellows became a partner at KIPS, further advancing his career in intellectual property law.
